Beesands is a small fishing village on the south Devon coast with a beautiful shingle beach. There are unspoiled views of Start Bay that extend along the sea to the lighthouse at Start Point. The beach is dog friendly all year round.
It is a residential area with a few houses along the stunning beach front, but just half an hour's drive to the town of Kingsbridge.
For a small village, there are 2 very good restaurants which are a few minutes' walk.
There is an excellent dog-friendly pub, The Cricket Inn, with wonderful food that is staggering distance from the house.
There is also a cafe, Britannia @ The Beach, which serves stellar fresh seafood and also does takeaway fish & chips.
In the nearby village of Torcross, which is a short drive or a mile-long walk over the hill/across the beach during low tide, there are several good cafes, e.g., The Boathouse, The Cafe at Seabreeze, and Start Bay Inn.
This is the view from the front of our house & the start of numerous walks.
The seaside village of Torcross is about a mile away. Turn left from the house and head up the Coast Path for a scenic walk.
The secluded village of Hallsands is also a mile away. Turn right from the house and walk up the Coast Path for stunning sea views before descending upon the beach at Hallsands.
For longer walks, continue along the South West Coast Path from Hallsands to the lighthouse, which is about 1 1/2 miles, or keep going!
